| LEA was established in January 2001—through community meetings and a steering committee—to design an action plan that addresses Latino education in Illinois. LEA is designed to support the efforts of primarily Latino high schools to improve student academic performance. |
An Additional Latino High School Offers LEA Programs |
| After years of serving Latino students at Benito Juárez Community Academy (BJCA), LEA has expanded its reach. North Grand High School, 4338 W. Wabansia, joined Benito Juárez in partnership with Latino Education Alliance in the 2006-07 academic year. |
| Lessons learned and refined at Juárez have led to the development of programs that will serve Latino students and families at these additional schools and well beyond its originating home site in the future. Thanks to a strong partnership with the administration, counseling staff, and teachers at Benito Juárez, BJCA has served as the demonstration host site to LEA’s Freshman Early Intervention and Parental Involvement programs for the past six years. |
